Matt Russell is a writer and award-winning filmmaker. His 2017 short documentary The Builder and 2019 short documentary Claire's Day both won Emmy® Awards for "Best Short Format Program - Informational/Entertainment." His literary works have appeared in Fiction Southeast, Flash Fiction Magazine, The Furious Gazelle, and Khroma Magazine. He attended Bowling Green State University, majoring in Creative Writing, and is an alumnus of the Yale Writers' Workshop. He lives in Toledo, Ohio, where he facilitates youth creative writing programs, and offers writing and film production services to local organizations. His clients include Toledo Public Schools, Read for Literacy, Toledo Museum of Art, and United Way of Greater Toledo. He is the founder and editor-in-chief of the Springboard Teen Literary Journal, and Executive Director of the H2YOU Project, an environmental storytelling nonprofit.
